Nowadays, there are a lot of false advertisements in society. They have caused many harms to society. Generally, their harms can be listed as follows. First, they exaggerate the functions of the goods they advertise and mislead consumers. Second, some advertisements contain obscene content, which is not only unethical but also illegal.

For instance, a common TV commercial shows a woman taking a stained clothing item to a smartly dressed man who then washes the stain away with a miracle washing powder. The immediate response from the woman is that this brand of washing powder is indeed superior to all other brands. Such is one of the typical commercial ads that are repeatedly shown on TV every evening.

However, not everyone holds a positive view towards these advertisements. Those who hate TV ads say that most of the ads, especially their repetition, have reached the point where they are annoying and disrupting the viewing experience.

In my opinion, while advertisements play a important role in modern life and help businesses grow, we should also be aware of their negative impacts. Advertisements should be regulated to ensure they are truthful and do not mislead consumers. Additionally, viewers should develop critical thinking skills to better evaluate the credibility of the advertisements they encounter.
